Some of the popular surveys attribute the increased success of software projects in the last few years to use of Agile methodologies. Companies have been looking at Agile methodologies more seriously in recession times when innovation is key to survival and success.
Most popular surveys list the following benefits among many others from Agile methodologies - Acceleration of time-to-market, Increased productivity, enhanced software quality and reduction of risk. This workshop focuses on how Agile methodologies help in the above factors and will focus on the most popular method, Scrum.
The workshop will highlight the practices of Agile methods which contribute to the above factors such as focus on prioritized product backlog, lightweight processes and empowerment of team members, creation of committed, self-organized teams without micro-management, involvement of all team members in all the activities right through planning and development, customer involvement as partner, early, frequent and consistent release of working software and so on.
The tutorial will also include an exercise to give the participants hands-on exposure to Scrum
About the Speaker
A Narasimhan (AN) has over 25 years of experience in the IT industry with over 15 years of project management experience. AN has managed large and complex projects and products in various domains such as real time embedded systems, banking and finance, internet security, healthcare, communications etc. Having run his own company for over 15 years, AN has created large teams and delivered projects successfully to clients in Europe and the US. AN has also done extensive business development in Europe.
AN has worked on Scrum in a large MNC for close to three years contributing significantly in transitioning, training, stabilizing, certifying (CMMI L3) and improvement phases.
AN is a Certified Scrum Master, a certified PMP, a certified SCAMPI assessment team member and a trained ISO auditor. A post-graduate in Industrial Management from the Indian Institute of Science, AN is currently into corporate training and consulting in the areas of Agile Scrum, Project Management, Function point estimation, Risk Management and related areas and has conducted over 50 programs on Agile Scrum in the last couple of years.
