Predicting the health of Software projects has always been a challenge in the software industry. Various models have been created to predict the project end metrics (e.g., schedule, effort, cost & defects) using the sub-process metrics and various parameters. These models had their own challenges.

This paper presents the details about a tool - “iQScorecard”, developed and refined by iGATE for ensuring the health of the project and predicting the Customer satisfaction. We were in a stage where it was not possible to establish correlation with or predict the customer satisfaction. Using iQScorecard, currently, we are able to establish a high correlation of 0.64 between the customer satisfaction & project health and also predict customer satisfaction with about 86% accuracy.

Suresh Thiagarajan

Suresh Thiagarajan is Group Quality Manager (iGATE) and is responsible for Quality Management of North American (NAM) and Rest Of World (ROW) business units.

His team of Quality Managers and Quality Facilitators provide support to projects starting from project initiation through project execution and till project closure.

Suresh Thiagarajan has over 24 years of experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Process management in manufacturing and software industries. He has 10+ years of experience in software and IT industries and had worked for Organizations like Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Indian Space Research Organization, Dharma Computers, Delphi Automotive Systems and Infineon Technologies.

He is a lead Auditor - ISO 9000:1994 (International Registrar of Certificated Auditors - IRCA) and is trained on 6 Sigma Black Belt concepts.

He has expertise in SEI CMM implementation - Level 3 which involved a single assessment for 32 Technical Centers of Delphi Corporation around the world.

He has Expertise in SEI CMMI implementation - Level 5 which involves assessment across 3 development centers across India (Infineon Technologies & iGATE).

 

Taranjit Singh Rekhi

Taranjit Singh Rekhi is Group Quality Manager in iGATE and is responsible for Quality management of two Business Units . He is in MBB role for more than four years and is playing a key role in institutionalizing Lean, Six Sigma and Quantitative Project Management in the organization. He has also been consulting for external clients in areas of Lean/Six Sigma, CMMi & SOX.

His team of Quality Managers and Quality Facilitators provide support to projects starting from project initiation through project execution and till project closure. His team is also involved in identifying improvement areas and facilitating improvements using Six Sigma/ Lean/ Kaizen techniques.

Taranjit has about 13 years of experience in Quality, Software Development, and project management, Process Implementation, Manufacturing and Training. He has worked in Manufacturing (SAIL) and GE. Taranjit has been trained both in Green Belt & Black Belt by GE. He is a certified GB from GE and certified BB & MBB from iGATE.

He co-authored white papers on DOE, Regression & Optimization, Building Quality culture in an Organization, Impact of Six Sigma Training, Measuring project health and Quantitative Project management. He also co-authored a disclosure while in GE.
