Course Overview

Most engineers join the computer industry fresh from college with academic knowledge. After a few years in the industry, they are called upon to lead a team of developers. This calls for a completely new set of skills, which they have not learnt in college, nor picked up at work. This two-day course helps transition them from a developer’s role to that of a Lead with practical examples and hands on training from Industry veterans.

Identification of one’s learning and teaming styles, Awareness of and training on Skills needed to excel as a lead, Fundamentals of Estimation – Size, Effort, Schedule, Task Allocation, Project Management and SDLC models, Measuring effectiveness and productivity, Learning how to conduct meetings and customer co-ordination.

A much needed practical training on skills and knowledge required to succeed as a lead Given the pyramid structure in organizations, a majority of delivery personnel are leads who have been thrust into the role without adequate training. Managers do not have enough time to coach them on the job or do so in a random manner. This is a structured workshop to help them succeed and in turn help the company succeed in achieving its business goals


Who Should Attend

Individual developers who are being groomed to take on a lead role for independently handling modules or complete projects either in a technical role, a project management role or as a test lead.


Pre-requisite - At least 2 years as a developer, tester

Trainers Profile:

 Muralidhar Koteshwar, a graduate of IIT Madras has been in the IT  Industry for the last sixteen years in a career that spans a complete  product life-cycle - Product Conceptualization and Development, Market  feedback to design teams, Usability design, Quality (ISO & SEI CMM),  Sales, Marketing, Product management, Corporate Communications and  Program management in cross-cultural transoceanic teams. He has held leadership positions in companies like C-DAC, Tata Elxsi, Tektronix, Celstream and is currently a Program Manager at TRILOGY.

He has conducted many successful workshops, seminars and tutorials on a wide range of topics that include Requirements Management, Time Management, Transitioning from Developer to Lead, Usability, Quality and Statistical Process Control. He brings to these programs a unique experiential process that makes the audience participate with enthusiasm.
